SCREENING PROCESS
SCREENING PROCESS
Our screening process includes 7 steps to ensure that we select the right candidate for your ships. Naturally, we document the entire process for each and every seafarer and screen for compliance with any specific requirements you may have.
Any specific requirements (such as OPCO-SIMO or ARAMCO MIMs awareness) you may have will be incorporated into our selection process.
Our recruitment team has vast experience, and they all have previous careers with blue-chip ship managers or shipowners.
Our recruiters, senior captains, and chief engineers who interview the applicants have all received training in interviewing techniques, which enable them to conduct in-depth interviews focusing on personality, behavior and leadership.
1. Sourcing and initial screening
We receive a large number of applications every day. This is due to our extensive advertising and our reputation as a first-rate crewing agency. All applications received are carefully screened and entered into our database.
2. Telephone interview
If, at first glance, the applicant seems to have potential, we call them and carry out a telephone interview to confirm their background and to explain our recruitment procedure. If we believe the applicant fulfils the requirements, they will be invited for a face-to-face interview at our office.
3. Reference check
We verify the candidate’s employment history by contacting their last two employers. For senior officers, we aim to get in touch with the superintendent responsible for the vessels where the candidate has served in order to learn about the candidate’s real performance on board a vessel. We naturally also check the authenticity of the applicant’s certificates.
4. Interview with our recruiter
All applicants are asked to come to our office for a face-to-face interview with our experienced recruiters. The purpose of the interview is not only to verify the candidates’ backgrounds and employment histories, but also to map their personalities and leadership skills. Depends on client’s requirement we are asking to pass Marlins Test. All officers attend a face-to-face interview with one of our senior captains or chief engineers, who all have relevant vessel, cargo or engineering / DP experience. The purpose of this interview is to verify the applicant’s professional expertise, as well as their personality and leadership skills.
5. Personality, leadership skills and safety awareness tests
Our toolbox also includes a number of computer-based tests to map personality and leadership skills. Our safety awareness test identifies to what degree a person is willing to comply with procedures and assesses their safety awareness.
6. Client-specific requirements
Before the candidate is introduced to you, we will check to see if they meet your specific additional requirements, especially for Arabian Gulf area.
7. Recruiter’s conclusion
After our checks, tests and interviews have mapped the applicant’s experience, knowledge and leadership skills, our recruiter draws up a review and determines whether or not we will continue with the applicant’s selection process.
In addition, all approved candidates will undergo additional screening and checking before joining.
Medical screening
All seafarers undergo pre-employment medical screening at the most modern medical centre audited by us for reliability and approved by the major P&I clubs. We are in direct contact with the head doctors of the medical centers, such as Ludmila Kuchmiy and Georgiy Pasechnyk.
